Very uniform upright leaves, disease tolerance, and bolt resistance are all qualities that are important for Southern California growers and beyond. Originally bred for South Carolina Climate by Ferry Morse in 1951. Enjoy the perfectly shaped romaine leaves and crisp, juicy flavor!
Suggested planting requirements: Tender lettuces have weak root systems so plant in fertile soil and consistent watering is important to ensure productive growth.
Growing Recommendations: Cool weather or maximum shade is essential for any lettuce mix to prevent bolting and wilting. For Southern California growers, you may grow some heat resistant mixes year round when placed in cooler areas. Maybe directly sown or transplanted to a garden box or container.
