Description

Cucumber – National Pickling

Cucumis sativus

This flavorful and smooth slicing cucumber produces loads of cucumbers for you to enjoy! Fruits are smooth (burpless) and sweet.  No need to peel the fruit!

Suggested Planting Requirements: Cucumbers can be seeded inside or in a greenhouse several weeks before the last frost and transplant into warm soil. For zones 9 and 10 you can transplant your cucumbers out mid-April. Watch a video on how to transplant correctly on our YouTube channel. Plant cucumbers in small, 2’ high/2’ diameter mounds with plenty of added organic matter.  If direct sowing, sow 6-7 seeds per mound. Once the seedlings sprout, thin to the 3 best vines.  Plants can be potted and/or trellised and/or left to sprawl on the ground. For the best production, we recommend that you trellis your cucumbers and avoid overhead watering as this leads to foliar diseases.

Growing Recommendations: In cool regions, start seeds indoors 10-14 days before the last frost, or sow seeds directly when the soil is at least 70°F.

Harvesting & Storage: Harvest when the fruit is small to medium-sized for best flavor. For the Tendergreen cucumber, we recommend harvesting them when they are 3-5″. Harvest fruit as it ripens to keep the vines productive.  Store in a cool place. For more tips on cucumber growing, visit our youtube channel. Watch a video on cucumber growing tips here.

I AM IN LOVE! The seeds are gorgeous, already 1 month after sowing the seeds I can see how strong and beautiful the plants will be! My favorite seed of San Diego Seed Company so far!
